Agreed. On the few stretches of road on my commute that have cycle lanes, I sometimes feel less safe - dunno if I'm imagining it but I feel like drivers can give me less room when there's a lane. And, if I'm not fully in the lane (due to often terrible road surface, or gutter detritus) then drivers can get pissed off.
