That's my fear, that the dog would come off worse. The cat is enormous, he's shy but when he gets frightened he attacks. I don't want a poor dog getting its eye taken out. I'm just not sure that I'd trust him with a grown dog challenging him. Maybe it would just be like it is when one of the other cats does.
