My memory is slightly different, the crowd was mostly just having fun being out but the catalyst was when the music got turned off. Be it by the police or whatever. Not sure. Then the crowd kind of imploded on itself. Restless booing starts and then a bottle or two get thrown and then the police come in and it kicked off. I legged it our of there.
To be honest, there is a reason mass gatherings like this need some kind of organisation. Not saying they can't happen without bother - but there were at least a couple thousands people there and it's gonna be a risk that it goes sour without proper entertainment and security. |
