Comment | If PPE/the last line of defense is being ignored, I worry what operational controls must be like. What the hell is the person responsible for HSE doing with his/her time? We get audited by external bodies 6 times a year, and while we're not accredited to an HSE standard, that shit comes up during an audit.
I know the HSE industry are an easy target for being a bunch of jobsworths, but the adage "safety regulations are written in blood" holds true largely.
If your company not only rejects safety improvement suggestions but actually discourages them, that's a major red flag. Good luck with the job hunt, but in the meantime document everything and CYA as the sages at /r/AskEngineers always say. |
