Comment | One of the differences between private student accommodation and a normal private flat is rental length limits.
If you rent in a dedicated student building, the landlord can dictate the minimum rental time, usually 6 months, 12 months or university term.
A private rental must be a rolling monthly contract. The days of private landlords being able to insist on a 12 month minimum are over. This gives you flexibility at both ends. If you find the flat is crap or the landlord is an arse, you can move elsewhere without any problems. Alternatively, you finish your degree, like the city and land a job, you don't have to move out because you're no longer a student. |
