Comment	I've had road bikes for years but switched to a cyclocross due to the deteriorating state of the roads. I'd recommend a cyclocross/gravel bike. More comfortable for riding on the roads and better suited to cycle paths and off road. I've done full loop and figure 8 of arran on mine and didn't notice much of a difference in speed or the climbs.
