Honestly, in my experience, it's fairly easy to get gigs so long as you have an active social media presence. Most of the gigs my band played back at the start were pretty much purely down to us messaging local promoters and seeing if they needed local support for local shows. Don't expect to support Municipal Waste or Testament in your first year, or even second or third or even fourth of playing together. It's gonna be a lot of small crowds and even smaller stages, but thankfully, from what I've seen, barring M2TM, the scene is essentially a meritocracy, so if you guys slap, you will end up with a small following without too much effort. After that, booking gigs gets a lot easier, as you can sell a few tickets, and once you're more confident in your ability to draw a crowd, you can start booking your own by hiring out venues and arranging for other bands to play with you. It's stuff that you learn over time, but don't feel too intimidated to even start in the first place. You'll get there if you just have a bit of patience.
