I'm not condemning anyone for supporting the cause.

I am concerned about the spread of covid 19.
How many of this crowd were infected with covid before attending? I doubt it is 0.

From these photos you can see that a lot of people weren't distancing correctly or at all.

Let's say 1% of what,? about 4000 folk. So that's 40 people. Now after standing that close with people for a few hours, even with most people wearing masks, there's a high chance those 40 people will infect at least 1 other person, if not more.

So hopefully it's only about another 100 folk getting a new infection, and those people will go home and probably be fine, but could potentially infect their full household.

So maybe that's 300 new infections, some of those people might be elderly or key workers (in a care home, or work in a supermarket, or a teacher). So how many new infections is that?

How many people will die as a result of people standing so close in the park today? 0? 1? 10? 100 or more?
Who knows, I certainly don't.

There are other ways of protesting at the moment, this doesn't help the cause at all. There's already a disproportionate number of BAME people dying from this.

The more stuff like this happens, the more chance of a second spike, the longer we all have to stay at home, the more chance you'll lose your job, the more chance the economy will fail. You know who comes out worst in these situations? Those who are already marginalised by society.

It's not that mass gatherings aren't ideal, they're deadly - probably not to those who are young and healthly enough to attend, but to those who catch the virus from them.

There are other ways to protest and educate.
