I think there are a lot of misconceptions regarding Scotland and particularly Glasgow not being racist. I have to admit that as a student it feels like that but I also work part time in a typical working class environment with mostly middle aged guys and I've seen a heard a lot of racism from them. I actually ended up writing an essay on attitudes towards minorities in Scotland and my research showed that attitudes here aren't much better than England and its basically just an assumption that Scotland is more tolerant.
