Taylor Wimpey were on the news in fairly recent memory - last year I think - for using really shite (like 80% sand) mortar which literally couldnae support the buildings long-term. Showed you one owner running their finger along the mortar and it came out like wet beach sand. Outright no safe for habitation.

Afterwards they reportedly tried to give payouts to the owners but tried to be sleekit and make them sign NDAs to stop it getting out - refusing the NDA meant the settlement was rescinded. Worth keeping in mind. |
