I’ve lived in maybe 11 UK cities over the years.

Glasgow fits best with Newcastle and Manchester IMHO. The culture, the attitudes, the priorities.

Also, regarding city size. People will harp about size, but that’s a fairly arbitrary marker for a lot of uses. Population density is pretty key though. Living on top of people is most likely a bigger part of your experience than Werner the Opera runs 4 shows a year or 6.

In terms of city centres, Glasgow very similar to Leeds and Newcastle. In terms of commuter belt, more like Manc.

Glasgow has the West End though, which is a bit of a city within the city. The closest thing I’ve ever lived in to the West End, outside of it, is Southsea in Portsmouth. If that makes sense to you, the West End will too.
