For that budget you can stay almost anywhere in town, a nice [one bed in the West End](https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-71012850.html) is at the top of your budget. If you want even more for your money the Southside is your best bet, try looking around the Shawlands (mostly West and South of Queen’s Park). The West End is nice with good access to amenities and transport, but expensive for what it is and students can be noisy on some roads. Shawlands is full of great pubs and bars with good access to town too.

Crime and drugs are no worse than the worst bits of Edinburgh, deprivation is a bit more in your face here but you’ll not get any bother unless you’re looking for it. The parts of town to avoid are hard to accidentally come across too. But if any of your pals back home ask, Glasgow’s shite and stabby. Keeps our rent down ;)
