| Comment | Ostracised? They're fucking dead. It's about how we, the living, view our past and whether we celebrate atrocities or are embarrassed by them. The people who were kidnapped as slaves and were brutalised, beaten, raped and murdered knew it was a crime, morally if not criminally, just as sure as the people who campaigned and fought against the slave trade did.
