The big problem with the club today isn't so much that those people are in the fanbase (don't get me wrong that's a very very real problem still) but it's that the rest of the fanbase who don't share their sentiments or at least not the extremes of them are so tolerant or passive about it. I'm a Rangers fan myself and can definitely be guilty of this too but as I see it the actual cunts are a small fraction like you say but they're a small fraction who feel like they've got the unspoken support of the majority - most people just ignore it as they don't want to get into a fight with a knuckle dragger or whatever and of course a lot of people will say the sectarian shit with mates etc as "banter" and while I believe most of them don't really mean the things they're saying it definitely helps legitimise it more for the people who do believe it hearing more people saying those things.
That being said it's a problem I see no quick or easy solutions to. |
