You lost me a little in the middle with some of the Celtic focused stuff but I generally agree with most of what you've said there. I think Celtic's problems that you touch on (child abuse cover ups etc) are just so different to the sectarian issues that talking about them alongside each other doesn't really work. It's not like the worst Celtic fans are singing about kiddy fiddling in the stadium whilst the rest of them don't do enough to condemn it. I think the fanbase are as reviled by that stuff as anyone else and it's more the club haven't always or even usually handled it well - the odd idiot fan will try to make excuses or usually engage in some whataboutery more than make excuses to try to shift the attention but it's just them struggling to accept anything negative being said about their beloved club rather than them actually defending pedophiles. While the sectarian stuff still has too many who will actively defend it on it's own.

I think that not accepting anything negative about their own club is a big issue in football and politics and whatever else. Too many people get into their little camp and then it's just everything we do is right because we do it and everything *they* do is wrong because *they* do it. That kind of black and white tribalistic bullshit is such a serious problem - being critical of your own side when needed and recognising the other side occasionally do things well is just part of reality even if it doesn't nicely fit your biases.
