The problem here is that we lose multiple individual small businesses that provided a range of different forms of employment, bulldoze them all and replace them with one. One employer running one business. This drastically limits people's employment options.

And it's in a sector that has just absolutely crumbled. Cos there's not going to be tourists for a WHILE. And even then we already have multiple hotels. And are tourists even coming to Glasgow to stay in a massive concrete and glass building? Why? Every city has these weird 'dystopian headquarters' looking buildings. When booking your holidays do you really think 'yep, I want to stay in the ugliest possible building.'?

Wasn't the council talking about how they wanted to encourage people to LIVE in the city centre? How does this kind of development encourage that? Surely if they wanted to encourage people into living in the city they would leave available the kind of amenities that communities would need - like places to eat, drink, get their nails done etc.

Just nothing about this development makes sense.
