I mind at my grandpa's funeral, in a crematorium with blokes wearing orange sashes, thinking "If they're all so staunchly protestant shouldn't this be in a church? And shouldn't religion be mentioned by this fella reading the shite out?" and then you realise that they're staunchly pro rangers and staunchly anti Catholic, but not at all actually religious themselves.
My dad's the same. If you'd to really push him he doesn't believe in God at all, but if you'd just to ask him he's a solid Protestant. It's nuts.
Do you get the same from Celtic side? Folk who think of themselves as extremely Catholic, yet don't ever go near a chapel and think "being Catholic" mostly means "loving the Celtic, hating the fucking gers!" |
