I think it would be a good idea for folk who are currently out of work or looking for a job (job seekers allowance) or whatever, to have to spend at least a few hours every couple of weeks (let's say 4 hours every fortnight - not too much on ask) out picking up litter, or helping clean graffiti, or something for the community.

Could also give them the option to increase their hours if they wanted in exchange for extra allowance.

They do this with the young out of work folk in Spain, I've seen them out at 7am picking up litter, it's not frowned upon or anything and it's really appreciated by the local community and by those doing it.

It also wouldn't take away from current council jobs as those who currently do that job could be team leaders for those who are doing it while job seeking.
