The 24 hour news cycle is part of the problem. The quicker somebody puts out a story the more clicks they get and the ad revenue drives them more than putting out an accurate story. If that stabbing happened 20 years ago you'd not hear about it until the 9 o'clock news when it would be more clear what had actually happened. Now we get a dozen conflicting unverified stories inside the first couple of hours. |
