Believe it or not, it’s against the rules. The contravention is called “parked with payment made to extend the stay beyond initial time”.
In practice, it’s fairly hard to get caught. I used to do it all the time back in the good old days when the Hillhead zone was 30p an hour. But if they see you do it, they’ll go for you.
The logic is that people use it to get around the “maximum stay” period. In some places, you can only pay for two hours. The council also have a lot of zones where the first hour is cheap, but extra hours after that are twice the price. So people buy a new ticket every hour to get around that. |
