Did you look at the surrounding area when you went to see the estate? Ardencraig Road is a big street but where Cathkin View is on it isn't exactly ideal. Castlemilk isn't as bad as it was in the 80s but it's still not great. It's definitely not up and coming or starting to gentrify or whatever other shite estate agents would tell you about other areas.

The houses are cheap because the land the developers built on was probably close too worthless. Don't do it.

£160k would get you a nice 2 bed in lots of nice parts of the city, don't get hung up on a nice looking new build which you can only afford because it's in a bad area.
