| Comment | There's certainly a need for rental or a rental-like system. I think most people who want shot of private landlords aren't expecting a world where everybody buys and just want it socialised, i.e. have the Government own properties that they rent out at cost.
The current system works absolutely fine if everybody is acting in good faith, but this is where bad landlords are hurting not only tenants but other landlords, because there's so much abuse in the system that just rooting out the bad actors becomes less and less viable, and gradually the only solution becomes to throw out the whole system. Personally my landlord is excellent, as was my last one, but the three before that were all rotten, and I'd honestly be happier if the whole system were managed by the Government. At least then if my landlords are crap I can vote them out of office. |
