I'm not sure I totally agree with your logic. I agree that the labour of the tenant contributes to the maintentence of my investment. But is that not true of any any business relationship? Boots doesn't add value to my labour when I buy razors. I give them my money for something I don't have.

It is the same for Landlords and I fundamentally disagree with the idea that Landlords don't provide a service. If I provide a good, clean, safe home and reduce the need for someone to invest their own capital then that is adding value to their labour. Because they can use their labour on other things.
