Done this myself at your age three times. Twice South to North and once North to South, which I preferred as my home is close to Milngavie and you will be buggered by the end of it, regardless of fitness. Unless you know how to comfortably camp with very lightweight gear, I strongly recommend you look at a gear courier service to move your heavy kit around. Or as a compromise have a friend meet you at Crainlariach with clean clothes, etc,. It's been kind of damp, the midges will be fierce. Carry lots of smidge. I do not recommend the bothies, although I have stayed in them many times. I have met roasters in them more often than not and who needs that nonsense? Do the locals a favour and bag and bin your shite and litter. Keep Scotland beautiful! Two pairs of clean socks every day, with spares. One very thin pair under a thicker pair. Carry foot powder and keep your feet dry. Dry them several times a day. A golf umbrella makes an excellent walking stick and...umbrella. "Are you expecting rain? <scoffing>" <Scottish Rain> "Haha ya wet prick! <gloating>". Only walk I ever got ticks was on the WHW and I had hunners of them. Learn how to take them off properly without them vomiting their Lyme disease into you. A fag is not the correct method. Don't ask! Not only to you get them from grass but they drop from above. Only place I ever saw an adder was on WHW (Conic Hill) warming himself in the morning sun, which was quite awesome.

It's a great walk. You will have lifelong memories from it. Don't just batter into it. Stop and explore. Take a guide book. It's the equivalent of going to a museum and talking the tour, as opposed to walking around on your own and missing half the cool stuff. You'll love it.
