The majority of the Park area was predominately non-residential for years. You could go up at the weekends and there would be no cars parked at all on some streets. I also remember The Stables takeaway. I still miss that.
I guess the only "old money" up there are the few that didn't sell-up when everyone else did. My neighbours for example. Been there since the 1930s and pronounce Charing Cross to rhyme with "sharing". |
