Probably the best short-term option given the great bike shortage caused by the pandemic. I have seen people on nextbike as far as Renton, on the way to Loch Lomond. So you can definitely do quite a bit of exploring on these (as long as you're not going up a hill the fact they're heavy does not really matter)!
