Yeah, that's the big IF.

For the vast majority having a mortgage & owning a property, even on furlough, is a better situation than renting.

It takes a lot longer for a bank to foreclose on a homeowner than it does for a landlord to evict, and as you say, if a LOT of people are in that situation I think we are likely to see some degree of 'help' being offered, either by the government, or by banks themselves trying to protect their own losses.
