Factors are basically a cancer that spreads and has more or less infected the city in its entirety by this point. There are only two reasons you'll find a place that has no factor now:

1. The residents realised they were paying for sod all to get done and banded together to oust them and suffer through along drawn out legal struggle as the parasites sink their claws in to try and wear you down.

2. The residents unanimously do not give a single fuck to the point where pursuing bills legally isn't worth the time and money it'll cost since there isn't one particular resident to bully.

Self factored places are heavily dependant on who you're living with.

Upmarket area full of reasonable families and home owners with an agreement and they all play along? They're going to be relatively good.

Close full of jakies on the dole and renters where an absentee landlord makes financial decisions for the place? You're never getting anything fixed, ever.

I'm guessing Govanhill is more than likely going to fall into the latter category.

> Also missed out on a tenement no one had an interest in because the other person, while offering the same as me, wasn’t bothered about carrying out the damp/timber survey that was recommended in the home report. Is it just me or are people fucking idiots? Either that or cash to burn? Tits.

Not always the case. Occasionally certain things will be marked as "suspicious" or "unchecked" and that'll put people off when really there's nothing to worry about. Likewise a place's value is a lot more than just its interior but location and marketability for renting. We have a serious landlord problem in this city where already high property prices are being raised further as landlords DO have money to burn and are spending it to get prime real estate without much in the way of regulation on their portfolio.
