There is a west island way which takes you literally around Bute. Two day walk, and it's a loop so you could arrive, dump bags at hotel and be on your way and you're back in town for pints. Then next day you just go around the other half. We did it with public transport for my birthday (aren't I a riot).

Absolute amazing time. I'd love to do it again. I'd be jealous.
