The amount of deposit that can be asked for is maximum of two months rent.
Any fees such as admin or holding fees are illegal.
The tenancy deposit scheme has to be a Scottish Government approved scheme and there are only 3 of those. The landlord or letting agency has 30 working days from receipt of the deposit to put the money into the scheme and are required by law to provide you with a deposit certificate and accompanying information.
