Lots of people have said something to the equivalent of “this doesn’t sound racial”, but to you, with your experience in a majority white city, I fully understand why it may seem that’s the reason you would be targeted.
Not that it will bring solis, but I’ve been attacked in Glasgow a few times growing up, and the states reason of the random attacker is always different, but the real reason is the same. So many people feel so small, and have such a inverted understanding of self-worth that they can only feel good about themselves at the expense of another. The sad thing is, even if you’re not being called a racial slur, the reason you caught their attention probably is that your black. I’m tall, I get the same negative attention from angry little men.
So I can’t promise it won’t happen again, I can’t even promise you Glasgow is getting better, I can promise you though that there is no shame at all in being the victim to an attack like this.
