| Comment | I agree that this problem is much more complex than just giving them shelter. The entire rehab procedures should be improved in order to reintegrate them back into society and this had been hard to achieve even before covid.
However, my main concern here is that people’s safety in the area is put at risk and the city centre is not the right place to bring all the junkies to. I live in the area and have been aggressively harassed and followed by beggars multiple times. Yesterday a girl’s phone was stolen in the middle of the street at st enoch centre by a group of junkies and two guys were fighting on my street. Yet many people seem to pity them because they are homeless and have mental problems. |
