I think it being a name for a pie in a roll is something imported from another part of the UK.
I've worked with some folk who sometimes ate them but there was never any nickname for it. Apart from "WTF are you eating? Who puts a fucking pie in a roll?" when I worked in an engineering workshop in the 90s.
