You're being willfully obtuse. Of course I think the pest control service is for getting rid of vermin, as mentioned in the second paragraph of my OP.
But there are finite resources and much bigger problems than your problem. Like someone who turns up to A&E with a scraped knee. Sure they can go, but it's a big eye-roll and a waste of time when you could just fix the problem yourself.

Catastrophizing and appealing to the worst case scenario. You saw one mouse; you bait and trap the solitary mouse; you evaluate if/when more mice appear.
Seeing one mouse doesn't necessarily mean your building will be overrun with mice. In fact, it's highly unlikely.
