We did this too in our previous tenement flat - had mice - wee buggers would just run around the living room when we were watching telly! - but got a rescue cat and the mice disappeared. But then we got clothes moths - apparently mice are food at keeping them at bay cos they eat the eggs. And after several wonderful years our cat died, which was heartbreaking. So, you win some, you lose some.
