Here’s one for you. As a teen girl in the 80s in Govan, there were a few very scary (young boys) who would terrorise the neighbourhood There was Jamma (one name like ) he was the top dog. Then there was the up and coming Jojo McGrillan.

It would be a hot summer afternoon, kids playing quietly outside their front doors then the streets
would scatter as the word spread "Jamma's coming" or whoever it may be. My mum used to laugh at my
brother and his friend, running in the house for dear life. Us girls didn't bother so much, it was the boys who were more at risk of being punched just for breathing. Having said that I did once get punched in the face by a wee ned "Stu Broon" and I hit the deck. We'd just been talking but I remember feeling unnerved by him. I was an easy target, I was a little
lamb to the slaughter when I first moved to Govan and shocked by the surroundings. Took a long
time for me to toughen up and even then, that never completely happened!

So, this story is about a guy who scared me more than Jamma and Jojo. His name was Dums and
a few years younger than me. He had a scary sister and cousin too who were gorgeous looking
girls but ooft, they brazenly knocked on my mums door once and said "Is Othermorgan there? We
want to fight her." My dad told them to bolt as I hid upstairs and I was upset as that now
only made the situation worse. Still amazed to this day they never beat me up!

Anyway, this is about Dums. They all had very dark hair and dark piercing eyes. Those eyes never smiled, still haunted to this day by them. I remember specifically one day, Dums came right up to me. He was a lot smaller than me, but he was right in my face with that glare, then started talking normally like
nothing ever happened. Had no idea of the history his wider family and uncle had but funny how
as a kid, you get the feeling something is untoward.

Fast forward a few years and there's a big commotion in the streets of Govan as a body has
been found under the floorboards of one of the old houses (they're lovely) up the road. Body has been cut up and eyes gouged out. Oh and also wrapped up in carpet.
Link below. I have never heard of the Raymond Platt guy but on reading about him years ago,
he sounds a terrifying character. Especially to do that to someone of Dum's 'status'! Ah,
the memories.
