I live in cumbernauld, we've been plagued with them for years. It's currently towards the tail end of the first round of breeding season. Given it's been quite warm recently, they'll probably have a second chick at least round here.

Your neighbours are probably feeding them, either deliberately if they're absolute wankers like my next door neighbour, or accidentally by not securing bins.

Unless you can get their food sources to go away, once they start nesting in an area they're a permanent fixture. Each gull has a lifespan of 15 years on average, and they'll return to the same nesting spot for years.

It used to be legal to remove the nests or eggs to reduce their agression, but all gull species are now protected as endangered birds. I suspect they are endangered in their natural habitat cos they're smart enough to realise they dont need to work for mcdonalds scraps, messy bastards give them the food for free.
