Arrochar is lovely and a great base for some nice walks with cracking scenery. Good variety ranging from fairly easygoing to 3000+ ft munros! Check out walkhighlands. Good local pubs as well.
Can get bus or train from Glasgow, takes just over an hour. Leave in the morning, back in the eve. Great wee outing, just remember the insect repellent!
