While the culture you're talking about certainly exists, it's always worth remembering there's an inherent confirmation bias here. If a subculture is based around posturing and conspicuous consumption, then by that very nature they're going to be a lot more prominent and visible than other subsets of a culture - there are a lot more people out there who aren't trying to be flashy cunts, but since they're not going out of their way to be seen it feels like all we've got left is spiceboys. |
