I have nothing but good things to say about the Taychreggan Hotel on Loch Awe. The Garden goes right up to the waterside and the tangible serenity was incredible; as was the night sky where stars were so close and so \*numerous\* that it boggled the mind.

It's a 40\~ minute drive from there to 1. the jacobite express what was used in Harry Potter, and serves a full cream tea in victorian style cabins. and 2. The Hollow Mountain, what was once Europe's largest underground hydro-electric facility; it's a humbling sight to behold.

You can also feasibly attempt ben nevis in good time from there with a bit of planning.
