Used to do this walking from Pollokshaws Road to Central most days, I never had any issues doing it. You do kind of hit a bit of a suspect bit nearer Govanhill but not once did I have any problems. If you stick to the main road you'll be fine.
Loads of buses en route too if it's snowing/raining sideways and you don't feel like it!
