I've lived in Bridgeton for years now and I really like it. Sure, it doesn't have the buzz or busyness of the South side but it isn't a bad place to live. If you work in the centre or west end then the transport links are great and you can walk/cycle. Getting to the southside is more difficult though if you don't drive.

TRNSMT is loud and busy, but it's fine. I find bonfire night more of an issue as people just park where they want and it's obviously dark.

You're within walking distance to West, St Luke's and the like but there's not much about the cross aside from the library/Greggs.

What area are you looking at? I'd stick close to the Green. Tullis Gardens and that area is fairly nice and quiet.

Downsides though are traffic when Celtic is playing. The traffic banks back right along James Street and round to Dalmarnock Road. Basically avoid driving when the football is finishing.

Summer can be a pain with the walks (this summer has been lovely and quiet...) as it affects traffic flow though.

The absolute bonus for me was a cheap flat - the prices are coming up now but it's still significantly cheaper than south side prices for similar. My flat value has risen by a good chunk over the past few years so hopefully that will continue.
