Yeah. There's pros and cons to being a lodger. You would still have some rights btw. A lodger still has the right of reasonable notice before eviction, and the actual tenant still has legal duty to provide a safe place (gas safety certs, etc). Over and above those, a lodger signs a licence agreement rather than a tenancy. So, agreements and contracts are actually in place. It wont suit everyone, but it's not dodgy or illegal like most of thread saying.
