Comment | Sweden is the perfect control for this comparison: there they've had an ideologically based, science ignoring "zero tolerance" policy to drugs where the goal is to "eliminate" drug use for decades. Despite the evidence showing over and over again that this is a fantasy, they ignore it and continue to treat drug addicts like criminals. The result is one of the worst rates of heroin overdose per capita in Europe.
I mention all of this because Sweden is in many ways comparable to Denmark in terms of education, infrastructure etc, so it's a pretty useful way of seeing where the opposite approach leads you. |
