Bristol is a fun town! Bits of Montpelier remind me of Govanhill/Shawlands (a bit less gentrified). Glasgow's a bit grimy and underdeveloped in some places but it's affordable, full of stuff to do and your quality of life will be high if you're earning an okay wage. Govanhill gets a bad reputation but there's some great food nearby (Kurdish Street Food and Ranjits Kitchen for example). You're getting there in the still a bit risky to leave your bike in your close but not as dangerous as it used to be phase of gentrification- you'll be drinking/eating on Pollokshaws Road/Victoria Road and spending the rare sunny days in Queen's Park.

Make an effort to explore the local community and be social and folk will soon accept you- it's a friendly city at its core but if you're a cunt be expected to be called out on it.

When the virus is over the nightlife is class- look at the listings for SWG3, Sub Club, Nice n Sleazys, Tramway and the Barrowland Ballroom (one of the best venues in the world) and go see some live music/club nights/weird art exhibitions with free wine.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
