It didn't smell of chips. It smelt of fish. To someone that's been a vegetarian for almost 20 years that's absolutely a reason not to bid on a place.
I get that Hooked is really popular and its ok to disagree with me, but we don't know OPs situation and the overwhelming _fish_ smell might be important info to them.
