A lot of modern buildings have simple clunky glass and/or cladding exterior without any intricate details.

They say it's now too expensive to make intricate stone buildings like the city chambers, and there aren't many tradespeople who with the skills to make stone features, but you would thing with modern technology they would be able to have machines that that automate the process of making stylish stone exteriors so that is more economical.
