My Dad grew up in London Road, had a wee newsagents shop there that he took over from his own Dad, met my Mum who worked in her Mums shop on London Road too. They moved to the East End, where I grew up and after my parents divorced he moved back to Calton and then just off Shettleston Road where he stayed until he passed unexpectedly around a year ago. He was a fiercely proud Glaswegian, loved every aspect of the city and always kept any scraps of newspapers that reported the city in a good light. When he stayed in Calton he rented his house from Thenue Housing and I don't think a day went by when he told me the story of Thenue, St Mungo, and the Glasgow coat of arms amongst other stories. There's no real point to this post really, but this image reminded me of him and as I said, it's almost a year since he passed. Thanks for the memories.
