Sloppy practice on my part after a long and tiring day.

A finger on my right hand went into a bench planer and started to pull my hand in. Luckily only the finger tip got the chop as I reacted just as the adjacent fingers were getting to the blades. When I say chop, I mean erased, through the bone and all. This all happened in fractions of a second. I had a bit of nail left close in to the cuticle. Which the surgeon pulled out, remade the finger tip and then pushed back in the remaining nail. Fast forward two years and it looks like a normal finger on first glance, if a little stubby. Which is amazing work when you think on it.
The reinserted nail kept the nail (opening?) open for new nail cells to grow from the nail bed. The nerves still are not right but it is just incredible what they did. Not only did the surgeon do an amazing job, but the outpatient clinic nurses saved my finger again when it went black (like frostbite) a few weeks post-surgery and there was concerns it might all have to go. Then after all that the physio got it working. Just amazing and caring professionals.
