Cycle Route 75 runs along the river and east for quite a ways, and mostly off road, nice ride along the old Monkland Canal for a part of it. It connects to the 7 at the squinty bridge which Will take you to Clydebank and eventually Loch Lomond.

There is a nice challenging loop you can run if you follow the 75 out to Uddingston, switch to the 74 when it meets, cross the most terrifying bridge ever in Blantyre, follow the (74) and hook back into the 756 back to the city. Its a good 2-3 hour ride, lots of climbs though but some great views.
